Dining on campus isn’t one size fits all. Our meal plans were designed with you in mind. If you are looking to enjoy a meal with friends or just a snack on the go – we’ve got a plan to fit every appetite.

We’ve kept what’s most important to you in mind, building in the convenience, flexibility, quality, value and healthy options you deserve. Explore our meal plan options to learn more about what would be the best fit for you.

  • Do I need to buy a meal plan?
    If you live off campus, meals plans are a convenient and affordable option if you wish to dine on campus.   If you are a residence student, meal plans are selected when you apply for residence.

  • Will my meal plan auto renew for next semester? 
    If you are a residence student you have already purchased meal plans for both semesters.  If you are an off campus student, meal plans are purchased at each semester.

  • Will unused meals or DB roll over? 
    Unused meals from Block Plans will carry over to the next semester and will expire at the end of the academic year.  All other meal plans expire at the end of the semester. Food Bucks carry over to the next semester but expire at the end of the academic year.

  • If I have already purchased a meal plan, can I change it?
    Yes, meal plans can be changed after purchase – some date restrictions do apply dependent if you are a residence or off campus student. 
    Residence students:  If you wish to make a change to your meal plans, visit the residence office or email them at residence@dal.ca.
  • Off-Campus students:  Meal plans can be changed at any time throughout the semester, visit the Dalhousie Food Services office or email food@dal.ca.   
Don’t worry - simplicity and convenience are all within reach. Once you have a meal plan, your student ID works like a debit card. Just swipe your card and the meals and points are deducted from your meal plan account.

Off Campus Meal Plans
Living off campus brings a different set of needs and challenges to university life. Commuters and residents in the surrounding apartments are offered a select group of meal plans specifically tailored with flexibility in mind. All non-resident plans can be used at any time at Howe, Shirreff, or O'Brien Dining Halls, and include DalCard Dollars that can be used at our retail locations on campus. Visit MyDalCard now to purchase an Off-Campus Meal Plan.
Graduate students

Graduate students are more than welcome to take advantage of our meal plan offerings! As a graduate student you can purchase any of our off-campus meal plan options (Tiger Plan, 14 Plan, 10 Plan, or the 100 & 80 Block Plans).
